What we do
Six ways we help you feel better
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractors are the second largest of the primary health care professionals, growing rapidly each year.
What does a Doctor of Chiropractic do?
Most doctors use a standard procedure of examination to diagnose a patient’s condition. Dr. Christin Hayes uses time honored methods of consultation, case history, physical examination, and when indicated, X-rays or other modern imaging tests or laboratory analysis to arrive at a diagnosis. In addition, she provides a careful chiropractic structural examination, with special emphasis on the spine, extremities, nervous and musculoskeletal system.
The examination of your spine and muscle system to evaluate structure and function is what makes the chiropractic approach different from that of other health care practitioners.
Accidents, falls, uneven stress, tension, over-exertion or other factors may not allow the spine to move properly within its normal range of motion. This can result in minor displacements or derangements of one or more of these vertebrae, causing irritation to spinal nerve roots directly by pressure or indirectly through reflexes. These irritations, in turn, may cause malfunctions and pain in your body.

The various managed care plans have a wide range of coverage benefits depending on the employer, insurance company, union contract or particular health care benefit plan.

- The professional accrediting agency for chiropractic colleges is the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE). The Accrediting Commission of the CCE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Acupuncture
Painless and powerful!
What is painless acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a millennia old, holistic approach to medicine focusing on the whole person, not just the symptom or the disease. It is used by millions of people worldwide for a wide range of conditions.
Painless acupuncture is a treatment style that I have studied and developed after seeing patients respond much better when they are comfortable and aren’t anxious about the pain.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture helps the body’s energy, or qi, correct itself, bringing us back into balance. Qi (also written chi and pronounced “chee”) is often translated as “life essence” or “vitality”. This qi flows throughout the body like a river, and, like a river, can dry up, get blocked, or veer off course. These changes are experienced as discomfort and disease. Through the painless use of needles and other gentle techniques, our qi is strengthened, helped to move smoothly and its direction of flow corrected to alleviate symptoms and promote health and well-being.
The treatment
We begin by taking a complete history, focusing on your primary health complaint. After arriving at a working diagnosis and treatment plan, the needles are inserted. Then you relax for 15 to 20 minutes. Other techniques such as tuina (Chinese massage), moxibustion and cupping are often used during the treatment as well.

Nutrition Therapy
Nutrition plays a vital role in the maintenance of a positive state of health and the prevention and treatment of disease.
Can nutritional supplements help?
There can be no reasonable doubt that nutrition plays a vital role in the maintenance of a positive state of health and the prevention and treatment of disease. When proper diet and nutrients are supplied to the tissues of the body, they exert powerful influences on body metabolism.
Vitamins, minerals, herbs, and similar products are considered essential by leading authorities. Many consider vitamins and minerals, when taken properly, to be vital ingredients to maintain a healthy body. Nutritional supplements help the body increase resistance to fight infection, promote healing, improve joint motion, support nerve function and improve many other vital body processes. It is important that you obtain current information concerning herbs, vitamins and minerals and be aware of the value and risks associated with supplements when you add them to your diet.
Dr. Christin Hayes has had considerable training in nutrition, she received her Bachelors Degree in Nutrition, and can help you avoid any toxic effects or adverse interactions of improper consumption of nutritional substances.
If you have any questions about your nutritional needs, consult with Dr. Chris for more specific information and advice.
Proper nutrition and the intake of vitamins should be reviewed with your doctor.
Natural Therapy
Drugless measures: heat, ice, aqua therapy and exercise.
Natural agents such as heat, ice, aqua therapy and exercise are some of the drugless measures which are available to patients in abundant quantities. When controlled, these elements may exert a beneficial influence on body function. There are other forms of physiologic therapeutics which involve interferential therapy, ultrasound, traction and dietary management and other natural procedures which are known to have specific physiological influence on the body.
The spinal adjustment is a predominant factor in providing chiropractic care for your condition. The adjustment, however, may not be the only procedure your chiropractor may employ in the course of your care and case management.
The chiropractic profession utilized drugless therapeutics, natural therapies, as early as 1903. Natural agents such as heat, cold, aqua therapy, and exercise are some of the drugless measures which are available to humans in abundant quantities. When controlled, these elements may exert a beneficial influence on body function. There are other forms of physiologic therapeutics which involve electrical stimulation, ultrasound, traction, dietary management, and other natural procedures which are known to have special physiological influence on the body. These may or may not be utilized by your doctor depending upon your needs.
Myotherapy
What is myofascial trigger point therapy?
Myotherapy is a treatment modality whose goal is the recovery from or reduction of myofascial pain and dysfunction. More simply put: myo refers to muscle; fascia refers to the layer of connective tissue between muscle and skin.
Myofascial pain is the result of trigger points. A trigger point (TrP) is a hypersensitive area which may appear in any muscle. TrPs commonly cause referred pain but also may cause weakness, numbness, and restricted range of motion.
What causes trigger points?
The causes of trigger points include, but are not limited to:
What to expect from a treatment
The first treatment begins with a detailed medical history including a description of the patient’s pain history. Specific range of motion tests are done to identify which muscles are harboring trigger points. After the therapist has determined where the trigger points are, manual pressure is applied until the TrP releases. This is followed by stretching exercises designed to return the muscle’s flexibility.
What is expected of the patient?
The treatment of myofascial pain does not end when the patient leaves the office. The patient is expected to follow a stretching program as well as any suggestions made by the therapist to overcome perpetuating factors.
